PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide technology capable of reducing unburned fuel components discharged from an internal combustion engine when resetting from fuel-cut operation, in a control system for a spark ignition type internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: When the internal combustion engine in the cold state is reset from the fuel-cut operation, the ignition timing is forwardly spark-advanced than MBT, and when the internal combustion engine in the warm state is reset from the fuel-cut operation, the ignition timing is spark-delayed than MBT. According to the invention, torque shock can be reduced while suppressing increase of exhaust emission at completion of fuel-cut operation and generation of knocking. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
