1. A method for operating an exhaust gas particulate filter for an internal combustion engine, comprising:
sampling a signal from a sensor for detecting particulate content in an exhaust gas stream emerging from the exhaust gas particulate filter; detecting that the particulate content is increased; injecting fuel into a gas stream upstream of the exhaust gas particulate filter and combusting the fuel to elevate a temperature of the exhaust gas particulate filter; and monitoring the signal from the sensor for a predefined time interval following the injection of fuel into the upstream gas stream to control a duration of the fuel injection. |
