A backlight unit control method of a mobile communication terminal is provided to be capable of selectively turning on/off a backlight unit according to contents included in an MM(Multimedia Message), thus battery power consumption of the terminal is minimized. An MM is received(S201). A reproduction event for contents included within the MM occurs(S202). The contents within the MM are analyzed(S203). If the contents has sound data only, a backlight unit of a mobile communication terminal is powered off, and a reproduction process for the corresponding sound data is progressed(S204-S208). |
