<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing unit which can find a recording sheet wrapping around the rotating component after the recovery from paper jamming and can safely start again. <P>SOLUTION: This fixing unit has a heater to heat at least one of the pair of rotating components pressed to each other to transfer a recording medium by sandwiching it in the nip, and a temperature sensor to detect the temperature of the rotating component. Detecting a temperature change different from the normal case, it regards that the fixing unit is in abnormal conditions. When it discriminates abnormal conditions, the temperature control unit stops the current to the heater. In this manner, it finds the recording sheet wrapping around the rotating components and prevents the fixing unit from overheating. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
