PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medium float detection device that restricts erroneous detection of medium float by reducing influence of light reflected from a medium or the like, and to provide a liquid emission device.SOLUTION: A medium float detector comprises: medium conveyance means (41) for conveying a medium (P); and medium float detection means (300) for detecting float of a medium. The medium float detection means comprises: a light projection part (310) disposed outside an end (41C) of a medium conveyance path (41E) in a direction orthogonal to the direction of medium conveyance and in a direction non-parallel to the direction of the normal line of a medium conveyance plane, and configured to emit detection light B; a light receiving part (312) disposed opposite the light projection part with the medium conveyance path between them, and configured to receive detection light emitted from the light projection part and to output a detection signal; a determination part (220) that determines presence or absence of float of a medium; and an aperture (320) including a first aperture (320A) provided with a first opening (321A) and a second aperture (320B) provided with a second opening (321B).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 |
