<p>An adjustable garment hanger (36) is constructed from a frame (38) depending from a hook (40), wherein the frame (38) has two inclined arms (42, 44) intersected by an optional cross bar (46). Within each inclined arm (42, 44) is an integrally formed locking bar (76, 78) that extends from the integral base to a free distal end. Each locking bar (76, 78) includes notches (84) and a pushbutton (80, 82) at the distal end. Ribs (90) that form channels (72, 74) and also form ramps are disposed on the sides of the inclined arms. Movable covers (48, 50) having internal ribs (58) slide onto each inclined arm (42, 44) while the retaining tabs (60) engage the ramps (68), channels (72, 74), and notches. The retaining tabs (60) when supported by the ramp (68) cause the outer ends of the covers (48, 50) to be tilted upwards. The locking bars (76, 78) are biased outward away from the frame (38) thereby placing the notches (84) into engagement with the ribs (58) of the cover (48, 50).</p> |
