PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic photoconductor having high resolution, high photosensitivity and low residual potential and a method for producing the same, and an image forming apparatus and a process cartridge which achieve downsizing and higher image quality. SOLUTION: In the electrophotographic photoconductor, at least a charge transporting material having a triarylamine structure is contained in a photosensitive layer on a conductive substrate, wherein the photosensitive layer satisfies the mathematical formula (1):ε=I<SB>(inside)</SB>/I<SB>(surface)</SB>≥1.1 when peak heights in raman scattering spectra of the triarylamine structure are measured at a wavenumber of 1,324±2 cm<SP>-1</SP>by a confocal raman spectroscopy using z-polarized light: wherein I<SB>(inside)</SB>represents the peak height in the raman scattering spectrum obtained at a depth of 5μm or more from the photosensitive layer surface and I<SB>(surface)</SB>represents the peak height in the raman scattering spectrum obtained at a depth of less than 5μm from the photosensitive layer surface.
