The present invention relates to a backlight unit, and more specifically, to a method for assembling a backlight unit capable of preventing an optical gap, and a backlight unit assembled thereby. According to one embodiment of the present invention, the method for assembling a backlight unit comprises the steps of: attaching an light source array having a cantilever to a flexible printed circuit board (FPCB) having an adhesive coated on one surface thereof in a manner that the cantilever faces the one surface of the FPCB; moving a light guide plate between the cantilever and the FPCB while the light guide plate contacts the cantilever, to move the light guide plate adjacent to a light emitting surface of the light source array; and moving the light guide plate toward the FPCB while the light guide plate is adjacent to the light source array, to attach the light guide plate to the FPCB through the adhesive after the moving of the light guide plate adjacent to the light emitting surface. |
