<p>A method and apparatus of regulating cycles of a burner (24) in a forced air heating system. A control unit (62) uses a sensor (64) at an output of a heat exchanger (22) to make measurements of a temperature of air output from the heat exchanger (22). The control unit (62) observes temperature measurements, after the burner has turned on. It initializes a confirmation interval (T2-T3) when two consecutive temperature measurements (T2-T3) are the same. If the temperature is the same at an end of the confirmation interval (T2-T3) the invention interrupts firing of the burner (24) for an interrupt interval (T3-T2). The interrupt interval (T3-T4) is insufficient to allow the heat exchanger (22) to cool below a temperature useful for heating below which the circulation fan (16) would shut off.</p> |
