PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To freely control the direction of flame propagation, in a case of performing multi-point ignition in an internal combustion engine.SOLUTION: An internal combustion engine includes a combustion chamber, an ignition plug configured to ignite fuel in the combustion chamber, a plurality of antennas configured to irradiate the combustion chamber with electromagnetic waves; an oscillation unit configured to oscillate the electromagnetic waves; an amplitude unit configured to amplify the electromagnetic waves; and an electromagnetic wave generation device having a plurality of output units configured to supply the amplified electromagnetic waves to the respective antennas. The electromagnetic wave generation device can vary the phase difference of the electromagnetic waves output from the respective output units.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5 |
