<p>A power converter for performing DC/DC conversion, wherein an inverter circuit (20) which is configured by connecting one or more single phase inverters (20a, 20b) in series is connected in series with a direct current power supply (1) in the subsequent stage thereof. The power converter is provided with an inverter circuit (20) which is configured by connecting a smoothing capacitor (6) which is connected to the subsequent stage of the inverter circuit via a rectification diode (5), and a short-circuiting switch (4) for bypassing the smoothing capacitor (6). The short-circuiting switch (4) is turned on to charge capacitors (25, 35) of the single phase inverters (20a, 20b). The short-circuiting switch (4) is turned off to discharge the capacitors (25, 35) to control the voltage of the smoothing capacitor (6).</p> |
