An attachment suitable for a hand held appliance such as a hairdryer comprises a first wall 102 defining a fluid flow path (130, fig.7a) through the attachment extending from an annular first fluid inlet (132, fig.7a) to a first fluid outlet (134, fig. 7a). The fluid flow path (130, fig.7a) has a cross-sectional area that expands from the first fluid inlet (132, fig.7a) towards the first fluid outlet (134, fig.7a). The attachment may comprise a first part (180, fig.3) and a second part (190, fig.4) and the cross-sectional area expands within the first part 180. The shape of the cross-sectional area is due to the shape of the bung 120 which has a conical profile 124 and flattens to line profile 128. This allows the flow from the inlet (132, fig.7a) to reduce in velocity and thus reduces noise. |
