PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cut a gate accurately in the extremely close vicinity to the surface of a product and to sufficiently smooth a cut surface. SOLUTION: A pair of cutters C1, C2 are heated to predetermined temp. in relation to the softening temp. of a synthetic resin constituting a gate to be cut and the edge parts C0, C0 thereof are arranged so as to be movable in opposed relationship and the cutter C1, C2 are mutually operated in such a state that the intermediate points of the edge parts C0, C0 are held to a constant position so as to synchronously approach each other in opposed relationship. The cross-sectional shape of a pair of the cutters C1, C2 is set to a mutually symmetric triangular shape and formed so that a pair of the sides opposed to a product are positioned on the same straight line.
