PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a titanylphthalocyanine crystal by designing itself to have a specific X-ray diffraction spectrum to enable photoconductive materials causing no decline in electrification tendency even after repeatedly used without losing their high sensitivity. SOLUTION: This titanylphthalocyanine crystal as a titanylphthalocyanine pigment having the fundamental structure of the formula (X1 to X4 are each a halogen; n, m, l and k are each 0-4) is obtained by designing itself to have the maximum diffraction peak at least at 27.2 deg. as a diffraction peak (±0.2 deg.) at Bragg angle 2θwith respect to the CuKαcharacteristic X-ray (wavelength 1.514Å) along with having a peak at 7.3 deg. as another diffraction peak on the lowest angle side. The above desired crystal form is obtained, preferably, for example, by first obtaining indeterminate crystal which, in turn, is contacted with an organic solvent in the presence of water to effect crystal transformation; in particular, it is preferable to use amorphous type crystal with the maximum diffraction peak at 7.0-7.5 deg. for obtaining the objective crystal.
