PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a peptide having slight amino acid residue and specifically binding to cellulose and to provide a method for producing the peptide. SOLUTION: The cellulose-binding peptide comprises an amino acid having 7 numbers of amino acid residues and having at least one positive hydropathy index and an amino acid having a hydroxy group or an amino group on at least one side chain. The method for producing the cellulose-binding peptide comprises steps for amplifying, separating, washing and eluting a phage having the cellulose-binding peptide from a phage display peptide library.
