PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve operability of an outboard motor by securely implementing shift switching during driving while suppressing generation of engine stall, and dispensing with subtle throttle operation of a driver. SOLUTION: In this control device for an outboard motor, a shift position sensing means 23 senses a selected shifting position. A determination means 38 determines whether or not the shift position is set to a position other than a neutral position. An engine speed sensing means 36 senses engine speed. A control means 32 controls an opening of an air control valve 25. When the shifting position is switched to the position other than neutral and the engine speed is decreased to a lowering determination number or less within a constant time at the time of the switching, the opening of the air control valve 25 is increased by specified degrees by means of the control means 32. The corrected opening is kept for a specified time to obtain a specified corrected engine speed. |
