This invention relates generally to alpha,alpha-disubstituted benzylglycine derivatives of the formula: or a stereoisomeric form, a mixture of stereoisomeric forms, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, which are useful as HIV protease inhibitors, pharmaceutical compositions and diagnostic kits including the same, methods for using the same for treating viral infection or an assay standards or reagents, and intermediates and processes for making the same.
