<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal recording material which can produce a recording image with a developed moderate black color tone for imaging and excellent shelf stability in terms of color developing sensitivity, moisture resistance, plasticizer resistance and light resistance. <P>SOLUTION: This thermal recording material has a thermal color developing layer composed mainly of a colorless or pale-color color developing compound and a developing compound which thermally makes the former develop a color, formed on a support.
