PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for producing a vaccine composition containing modified cancer cell particles having immunogenicity. SOLUTION: Modified cancer cell particles are prepared by delipidation of cancer cells using a solvent system useful for extracting lipids from cancer cells thereby allowing cancer cell antigens to be exposed. The cancer cell particles and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier are assembled to create a vaccine composition. The modified cancer cell particles initiate a positive immunogenic response when administered to an animal or human and help to treat, prevent or delay the progression of cancer.
