<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording head that is capable of high density recording as a result of improvement in write reliability and can be easily produced without much labor. <P>SOLUTION: The recording head includes: a slider 60; a light propagation element 40 having a propagation unit that is disposed on the flow-out end surface 60a side of the slider and condenses and propagates a light flux entering from one end side toward the other end side that faces the surface of a magnetic recording medium; and a recording element 41 that is disposed on the flow-out end surface side of the slider, has a main pole 47 and an auxiliary magnetic pole 45, and generates a recording magnetic field between the poles. The main pole and at least the part 40 of the propagation unit on the other end side are disposed in the same surface parallel to the flow-out end surface of the slider, and a metal film 55 generating near-field light out of the propagated light flux is formed on a lateral face 54a on the main pole side of the part 40 on the other end side. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
