Class 75(4) The electric light bulbs of a car lighting installation are grouped according to their functions, e.g., at the front of the car, the head lights with main and dipped beams, foglight, flash lights, side lights. parking lights and lighting for the engine space, and at the rear, reversing lights, tail lights, stop lights, flash lights, parking lights, luggage space lights and number plate lights, and each group is accommodated in a respective housing 2, 5 covered by a cap 3, 6 having a light transmitting aperture, the caps at one end, for example, the caps 6 at the rear of the car, being connected to one another by a trough-shaped bridge piece 7 having at least one light-transmitting aperture and carrying device such as the internally reflecting surfaces for directing light from the bulbs in the housings in a desired direction or carrying a group of such devices for directing light from said bulbs in the housings 5 for the illumination of the number plate 8 of the vehicle, which is viewed through the aperture in the base of the bridge piece 7. The housings 5 are provided with lateral light transmitting apertures and maybe with separate electric bulbs 9 arranged to illuminate the plate 8 and/or the luggage- or engine-space. The housings 2, 5 have flange like edges and are adapted for insertion into apertures in the car body panelling - utilising the flanges for securing the housings to the panelling. Each group of electric bulbs is connected to the main circuit wiring by means of a multiway plug 4. |
