PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods of treating or preventing a medical condition that is responsive to a bisphosphonate compound in a subject.SOLUTION: The invention provides methods for administering bisphosphonates comprising administering to a subject a pharmaceutical composition comprising a therapeutically effective amount of the bisphosphonate not less frequently than a bi-weekly dosage schedule, wherein the bisphosphonate compound is zoledronate; the administration is conducted by intravenous administration or oral administration; preferably, the level of N-Telopeptide Cross-Links (NTX) in urine of the subject is decreased and maintained in a range of about 5 to about 60 BCE/mMol during the treatment; and furthermore, preferably, the level of serum C-telopeptide (CTX) is decreased and maintained at about 35 to about 600 pg/mL.SELECTED DRAWING: None |
