PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure safety in a power converter between a generator and a power system even when a control power supply for controlling the power converter is lost.SOLUTION: A power converter includes: a rotor side converter connected to a rotor of a generator to control electric power outputted from the generator to a power system; a system side converter connected to a DC circuit of the rotor side converter and the power system; a first DC voltage discharge circuit and a second DC voltage discharge circuit for discharging DC voltage of the DC circuit; and a control unit for causing the first DC voltage discharge circuit to discharge the DC voltage.
