PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air compressor that can be controlled positively from a remote location.SOLUTION: A compressor of this invention is constituted to enable bi-directional wireless communication to be carried out between it and a portable device such as a smart-phone and it comprises a compressor device for generating compressed air, means for receiving a request concerning a controlling operation for a compressor from the portable device, means for executing the request received from the portable device and means for transmitting an answer-back concerning a result of execution of the request to the portable device. A wireless communication is employed at a communication system between an air compressor and the portable device enables a remote-controlled operation to be carried out positively at a building site having many shields or the like. In addition, receiving the answer-back from the compressor enables an operator to positively understand a present situation of the compressor in remote location without deliberately returning back to the site. In addition, receiving the answer-back from the compressor can positively prevent erroneous operation from being left.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
