Intended is to provide a safe fluorescent lamp, which is more efficient than the ordinary straight-tube fluorescent lamp, which can be mounted on a lighting equipment of the same length as that of the straight-tube fluorescent lamp, which can reduce the size and thickness of the lighting equipment, and which is freed of the discharge due to a dielectric breakdown between the heteropolar terminals of a base. A fluorescent lamp of a three-wave type for high-frequency lighting is equipped with a lighting tube, which is prepared by jointing a plurality of glass tubes or by bending one glass tube, thereby to form one discharge passage. The fluorescent lamp is characterized in that the glass tube has an external diameter of 16.5 mm plm 1.5 mm, in that the fluorescent lamp has an entire length of 1,000 to 1,200 mm, and in that the lamp current is 150 mA plm 50 mA.
