RETRACTABLE NIB WRITING INSTRUMENT

A writing instrument (10) includes a barrel (12) having a hollow channel, an open end (14) and a closed end. A cartridge (24) is slidably movable in the hollow channel and the cartridge has a nib (16) in fluid communication with a reservoir. An arm (18) is pivotably mounted to the barrel and a cap (20) is attached to the arm, the cap is adapted to close the open end of the barrel when the arm is in a closed position. As the arm pivots, moving the cap from the closed position to an open position, the cartridge extends toward the open end of the barrel and exposes the nib. When the arm is rotated approximately-180 degrees, the nib is fully extended and ready for use.
