AROMATIC DIACID ESTER DIOLS AND SUBSTITUTED CARBAMATES THEREOF FOR MINIMIZING DETERIORATION OF POLYURETHANE FOAMS

A novel composition for producing polyurethane foams is provided to reduce a deterioration of polyurethane foams under a wetting and aging condition by using aromatic diacid ester diols or substituted carbamates thereof. A composition comprises essentially a non-fugitive tertiary amine urethane catalyst, and an aromatic diacid ester diol represented by the following formula 1 or a substituted carbamate thereof. The composition includes optionally at least one blowing agent, a crosslinking agent, an additional urethane catalyst, and a surfactant, and optionally a polyol component consisting of at least one ester-free polyol. An equivalent ratio of ester groups in the aromatic diacid ester diol or substituted carbamate thereof to tertiary amine in the non-fugitive catalyst ranges from 0.1:1 to 50:1.
