PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for forming a pneumatic tire, capable of reducing variations in joint overlap amount of a component, without causing a cover tilt to a former when applying the component on a cover fitted to the former, and to provide the pneumatic tire having a stable performance.SOLUTION: A method for forming a pneumatic tire includes: a detection step of detecting that a tip of a component arrives at a predetermined position in the rotating direction of a former during application; a shift amount calculation step of calculating a shift amount of the rotation angle caused between the cover and the former by the detection of the tip of the component; and a former rotation angle decision step of deciding a rotation angle of the former to rotate after the detection of the tip of the component, on the basis of the shift amount of the rotation angle caused by the detection of the tip of the component calculated in the shift amount calculation step. |
