A tag information selecting method variably sets the maximum distance from an electronic tag for a tag reader/write to communicate with in a non-contact manner, and determines each of such electronic tags having a distance less than the maximum distance from the tag reader/writer as a processing target, as reside within the communicative range of the tag reader/writer, thereby to make effective the read information and/or the write information for the electronic tag or the processing target.
