<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a visual line direction detecting device for a vehicle capable of raising precision for detecting an object to be visually recognized by a vehicle driver, and to provide its method. <P>SOLUTION: The visual line direction detecting device 1 for the vehicle not only obtains a correction value (a static correction value) from an object to be visually recognized in the vehicle such as internal equipment but a correction value (a dynamic correction value) from a dynamic object (an object to be visually recognized outside the vehicle). The dynamic correction value is the value including a dynamic feature which is not acquired from the static object. When viewing the moving object, for example, the driver moves the iris of each eye in response to the movement of the object, so that the movement of the iris parts differs according to various causes such as age and driving skill. The dynamic correction value becomes the value including the unique feature in viewing the dynamic object. Consequently, a visual line direction is corrected through the use of the static correction value, so as to perform correction, based on the dynamic feature.
