<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for discharging a liquid droplet, by which the total plotting time can be shortened and an uneven film can be prevented from being formed and to provide a head unit, an apparatus for discharging the liquid droplet, an electro-optical device and electronic equipment. <P>SOLUTION: When the liquid droplet of a liquid material 111 is discharged to the portion 18S to be discharged and which exists on the side of an edge side 10B of a substrate 10A, three kinds of liquid materials 111 can be discharged by scanning a discharge nozzle once since the discharge nozzle is scanned so that an overlapped discharge area V includes at least a part of the portion 18S to be discharged.
