COMPOSITION FOR APPLYING WEAR RESISTANCE COATING ON SUBSTRATE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition which has an improved stability and forms a wear resistance coating on a substrate when it is applied and cured on the substrate.

SOLUTION: This composition contains a water-organic solvent mixture containing a hydrolysis product and a partial condensate of an epoxy functional silane and a four-functional silane, and a multifunctional compound. The multifunctional compound is selected from a group consisting of multifunctional carboxylic acids, multifunctional anhydrides and their combinations. The mol ratio of the epoxy functional silane to the four-functional silane is from about 0.1:1 to 5:1. The composition contains enough amount of water for hydrolyzing the epoxy functional silane and the four-functional silane.
