The invention relates to a method of producing a brake shoe (4), particularly for drum brakes of motor vehicles, with a brake-lining carrier (42), the outer surface of which has the shape of a segment of a circular cylinder, and with an arc- or crescent-shaped web (41) which is arranged under the brake-lining carrier (42) and via which the actuating forces of the brake are transmitted to the brake-lining carrier (42). The new production method is characterised - in that a ring (3) with a cylindrical outer surface and a T-shaped cross-section is formed from a round sheet-metal blank (1) by upsetting the blank and then pressing it flat or by splitting it and then pressing it flat and - in that the ring (3) is divided into two or more annular sections (30), each forming a brake shoe (4).
