PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure capable of executing a steam process for supplying heated steam to the interior of a washing tub without accompanying the deterioration of the volume efficiency, reduce the manufacturing cost, and continuously supplying the heated steam in a stable state. SOLUTION: A steam generation unit 40 disposed in a space part (a clearance) between the bottom of the washing tub 12 and the bottom of an outer box 13 is formed into a sealed container having a water inlet 44 and a steam outlet 45 in the upper face, has a sheath heater embedded in the bottom, and generates the heated steam in its inside. The water inlet 44 is connected to a water supply valve via a tube 56, and the steam outlet 45 is connected to a squirt hole 57 formed to be opened inside the washing tub 12 via a tube 58. The water is intermittently supplied to the steam generation unit 40 and, as the water supply interval from the previous water supply operation is shorter, the water supply time in each water supply operation is controlled longer.
