摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicular headlight which reduces loss in light volume due to a rotary light shielding shade and increases maximum light intensity and luminous flux around a center of a light distribution pattern. SOLUTION: A vehicular headlight 10 is configured in the following manner. Light from a light source is reflected on an elliptical reflective surface to focus the light around a second focusing position. A resulting light source image is projected ahead in the light irradiation direction by means of a convex projection lens, and a cutoff is formed between the reflective surface and the projection lens by a light shielding shade which is supported to be able to rotate around a rotary shaft extending in a lateral direction just below a second focusing position on the reflective surface. At a stationary position with at least one specified angle on a cross-sectional surface perpendicular to a rotary shaft, the light shielding shade is formed in almost triangular shape to extend downward at a slant to both sides from an apex, which is located around the second focusing position on the reflective surface. Such a triangular portion has an inclined angle which never interrupts light which is reflected on the reflective surface and passes in the vicinity of the second focusing position to come into the projection lens.
