A lithium ion secondary battery, comprising: a positive electrode; a negative electrode comprising a negative electrode active material comprising at least one carbon material selected from the group consisting of a natural graphite, an artificial graphite, a non-graphitizable carbon and a graphitizable carbon; and an electrolyte solution comprising a cyclic disulfonate ester compound represented by the following formula (1) and an acid anhydride: wherein R1 and R2 are each independently an atom or a substituent selected from the group consisting of a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms, a halogen atom and an amino group; and R3 represents a linkage group selected from the group consisting of an alkylene group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms, a carbonyl group, a sulfinyl group, a sulfonyl group, a fluoroalkylene group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms and a divalent group including alkylene groups or fluoroalkylene groups bonded through an ether bond and having 2 to 6 carbon atoms.
