PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a process for obtaining display-use image data to be performed suitably on a receiving side when first video data having ordinary dynamic range characteristics and second video data having high dynamic range characteristics are transmitted while being switched.SOLUTION: A video stream is obtained by encoding video data obtained by switching first video data having ordinary dynamic range characteristics and second video data having high dynamic range characteristics. In the video stream, characteristic information indicating that video data has ordinary dynamic range is inserted into the first video data, and characteristic information indicating that video data has high dynamic range is inserted into the second video data. A descriptor of characteristic information is inserted so as to indicate characteristic information of video data after being switched at a timing earlier by a predetermined time period than a characteristic switching timing of video data.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4 |
