摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting device capable of more enhancing light use efficiency than a conventional lighting device. <P>SOLUTION: A lighting device 100 comprises: a light source device 110 for emitting light; a first lens array 120 having a plurality of first small lenses 122; a second lens array 130 having a plurality of second small lenses 132; a polarization conversion element 140 for emitting light from the second lens array 130 as polarized light; and a superimposing lens 150 for superimposing each partial light flux from the polarization conversion element 140. The plurality of first small lenses 122 and the plurality of second small lenses 132 are individually disposed in a matrix manner. The polarization conversion element 140 is a lighting device comprising polarization conversion units that convert the light from the plurality of second small lenses 132 to polarized light on a column basis disposed side by side in a plurality of columns.
