A configuration is provided for acquiring image information of multiple image data to be applied to ultra-high-definition (UHD) image playback, and enabling image playback to which the multiple image data is applied. Image information of multiple image data to be applied to UHD image playback is recorded in an STN table of play item units registered in a playlist file. For example, image information relating to BDMV HDR image data (primary video stream) and image information pertaining to enhancement layer image data (enhancement layer (EL) video stream) are recorded in an STN table of play item units, whereby during playback processing, it is possible to execute accurate decoding and playback processing based on the image information pertaining to the two types of image data.
