PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water dispersion usable as a resin for coating formation of an aqueous coating or a coating agent, overcoming problems of conventional technologies when using a hydroxy polyurethane resin and having practicable good stability and a film excellent in gas barrier property by using the water dispersion.SOLUTION: There is provided a water dispersion by dispersing a polyhydroxy urethane resin with particle diameter of 0.01 μm to 100 μm in water, where the polyhydroxy urethane resin has a repeating unit represented by the following general formula (1), where Z represents a chemical structure containing a carboxyl group or an anion or a salt thereof.SELECTED DRAWING: None
