PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stationary power converter which can generate an unlimited output voltage with a high conversion efficiency, by constituting a multilevel phase driver row of drivers in each of which a plurality of H-bridges composed of two pairs of power semiconductor elements connected to a DC power source is connected in series. SOLUTION: In order to generate the line-to-neutral point voltage to be supplied to a load 54, six insulated DC power sources 50 supply electric power to a power semiconductor switch row 38 constituting connected H-bridges 12. Each H-bridge 12 receives electric power from a DC power source through terminals 14 and 16 shunted by means of a capacitor 18. The H-bridge has transistors 20 and 22 which are connected between lines 15 and 17 and the intermediate point of which is connected to an output terminal 24, and transistors 26 and 28 which are connected between the lines 15 and 17 and the intermediate point of which is connected to another output terminal 30. The H-bridges 12 are connected in a row in such a way that their output terminals are connected in series with the adjacent H-bridges 12, and the bridges 12 constitute multilevel phase drivers having peak output voltages which are equal to the total value of the power supply voltages from the insulated DC power sources 50 and are controlled by means of a PWM sequencer. |
