PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device where the charging of an empty container, its carrying to a reading position and its transfer onto a roller rotating the empty container can be safely and simply performed. SOLUTION: In the empty container recovering device where a bar code displayed on an empty drink container is read out, and thereafter, the empty container is crushed and stored in a recovering storage part, a carrying means of carrying the empty container charged to an empty container charging port to a prescribed position, a rolling supporting means composed of two rollers arranged parallelly on both the sides in the carrying direction with the carrying means sandwiched, a bar code reader arranged at the upper part of the rolling supporting means, a collapsing means of subjecting the empty container excluded from the rolling supporting means to collapsing treatment, and a vertical movement means where, at the time when the empty container charged to the empty container charging port is carried, the carrying face of the carrying means is located in a height position at which the empty container can be carried, and at the time when the carried empty container is transferred from the carrying means to the side of the rolling supporting means, the carrying means is lowered are provided.
