PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk device capable of stabilizing a focus servo by reducing the noise of a detection signal to be used for the focus servo in the case of writing information on a label surface and to provide a method for controlling the focus of the optical disk device. SOLUTION: Out of optical spots formed on an optical disk 61 by laser beams from an optical pickup 65, both of a main spot for writing and a sub-spot formed by a sub-beam are used to detect a focus error.
