PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of maintaining stable image quality over the whole area from the low density area to the high density area of image density from the beginning of a product life to the end.SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes a photoreceptor 21 whose surface is regulated by a photoreceptor film 21c and which can carry an electrostatic latent image, a developing unit 23 which supplies toner to the photoreceptor 21, a bias application part 33 which applies a developing AC bias to the developing unit 23, a film thickness detection part 34 which detects the film thickness information of the photoreceptor film 21c, and a control part 30 which controls the operation of the bias application part 33. When it is determined that the film thickness of the photoreceptor film 21c is smaller than a predetermined value on the basis of the film thickness information, the control part 30 controls the operation of the bias application part 33, so that the duty ratio on the developing potential side of the developing AC bias is increased and the duty ratio on the recovery potential side of the developing AC bias is decreased.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
