PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain woven and knitted fabrics having excellent hygroscopic and moisture release properties and excellent whiteness by weaving and knitting a sheath-core conjugate yarn arranging a hygroscopic and moisture release component composed of a fiber-forming polymer and a specific polyalkylene oxide-modified substance in a core part. SOLUTION: A core component comprising a fiber-forming polymer such as nylon 6, etc., a hygroscopic and moisture release component composed of a polyoxyalkylene oxide-modified substance obtained by reacting a polyalkylene oxide with a polyol and a fatty acid diisocyanate and at least one stabilizer selected from the group of a hindered amine-based stabilizer, for example, shown by formula I and a phosphite- based stabilizer, for example, shown by formula II and the fiber-forming polymer as a sheath component are subjected to a conjugate spinning to give a hygroscopic and moisture release yarn having >=1% moisture absorption when equilibrated at 25 deg.C×60% RH and then allowed to stand 34×90% RH for 30 minutes and >=2% moisture release ratio when equilibrated at 34 deg.C×90% RH and then allowed to stand at 25 deg.C×60% RH for 30 minutes and >=80% Taube whiteness. The objective hygroscopic and moisture release woven and knitted fabrics are obtained by using the hygroscopic and moisture release yarn.
