The bearing unit includes needle bearings (2, 9), of which the outer rings are in the form of deep-drawn unstressed shells (12, 13) with edging on both sides (14-17). The diameter of the inner edge of the outermost edgings facing away from each other is smaller than the diameter of the relevant internal race. The two needle bearings are arranged in mirror image to prevent an axial shift of the shaft (1) if the fixed bearing (26) fails.
