<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To preserve spatial quality and detail of a digital image while fully representing the color of the digital image, when processing the digital image obtained with a digital camera or other imaging devices. <P>SOLUTION: An automated RAW image processing method and system are disclosed. A RAW image 312 and the related metadata 314 are automatically processed using an operating system service of a processing device to produce a resulting image 349 in an absolute color space. When automatically processing, a predetermined tone reproduction curve is applied to the interpolated RAW image to produce the resulting image.
