PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pharmaceutical composition for external application and an adhesive skin patch which can improve the releasability, transdermal absorbability, and stability of loxoprofen and its salt and can inhibit the aggravation of irritation to the skin. SOLUTION: The adhesive skin patch comprises a support, and a self-adhesive layer laminated on the support, wherein this adhesive layer contains a pharmaceutical composition for external application. This pharmaceutical composition for external application comprises loxoprofen or its pharmacologically acceptable salt, an auxiliary component having a hydroxy group in the molecule, and a pyrrolidone compound.
