PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a combustible gas in a space portion of a crusher, in which an object to be crushed and dust are present.SOLUTION: A combustible gas detection method for a crusher is provided in which: a space portion 28 in the crusher is irradiated with infrared including an absorption wavelength and a reference wavelength in a combustible gas from a floodlight 32 and the infrared is received by an optical receiver 33; a gas detection determination part compares the irradiation intensity of infrared having the absorption wavelength with the irradiation intensity of infrared having the reference wavelength; and a mass of combustible gas, dust and an object to be crushed present in the space portion 28 are each discriminated by a difference between the amounts of attenuation of the absorption wavelength and of the reference wavelength.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
