PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display unit device and its control method capable of suppressing a luminance change of black belt image region in a time direction and improving display unit quality when performing light source control for each divided light emission region on the basis of an input image.SOLUTION: An image display unit device including a light source unit on a back side of a display unit comprises: emission control means which controls emission intensity of a plurality of divided light emission region constituting the light source unit on the basis of an input image; storage means which stores a plurality of target luminance corresponding to patterns of a plurality of black belt images for adding to the input image and patterns of the plurality of black belt images; and processing means which performs image processing to the black belt image so that a region of the black belt image added to the input image is approximately uniformly displayed with the corresponding target luminance. |
